Objective: Read Montag’s notebook
It’s on the table by the front desk. Stop looking for a small laptop. A notebook is “a small book with blank or ruled pages for writing notes in“. It’s made of paper. Interact with it to pick it up.
Objective: Get an anima manipulator
Next to Carter. Interact with it to pick it up.
Objective: Get a portable ward generator
Objective: Acquire anima sources from familiars
The quickest way to get the sources is to aggro the packs of familiars in the hallways, and then run across the door ward shown to the left in the image below. Any mob crossing the ward die instantly.
Pick up 7 of the anima sources (yellow orbs) that they leave behind upon their deaths.
The ward generator is one floor up inside the Headmasters office.
Take out the Headmistress first if she’s present.
Then interact with the Portable ward generator to pick it up.
Objective: Assemble a charged ward generator
You now have the following in your inventory. From left to right: W.A.N.D. Anima Manipulator, 7 x Anima charges and a Portable Ward generator.
Open your assembly window (Y), and add the anima charges and the portable ward generator to the main window and the W.A.N.D. to the tool slot. The result will be a Charged ward generator. You will be needing this more than once, during fights, so I suggest you slot it in a pinned inventory window.
Objective: Meet Carter in the basement
Head down stairs again. The basement door is by the front entrance. Interact with it to enter. This is a solo instance.
Objective: Escort Carter to the source of the familiars
Cater will be following you. This is no maze so I won’t tell you where to go, it’s pretty straight forward.
Objective: Go through the maintenance door
Interact with the door to attempt to open it. BORKED!
Objective: Find a way to open the maintenance door
STOP! RIGHT! THERE!
I must warn you. You will soon meet the first mobs down here. When you fight, Carter will join you. Most of the time she will use different single target abilities. However, once in a while she will utter the words “Just so you know, things are about to get kinda gross“. Without hesitation you will activate (right-click if not on hot bar) your Charged ward generator, because she is about to rain down hellfire on your enemies. And you are caught in the cross fire. Stay in your little bubble until she is done. Like this.
Proceeding with the mission. Go though the other door. Fight mobs a long the way. Your goal is this Control panel. Interact with it.
And get ready for an onslaught. The strung up familiars will be waking up now.
Objective: Escort carter to the source of the familiars
Fight your way back to the maintenance door, enter and continue forward until you reach this point. The mission objective will update. There will be a lot of familiars along the way.
Objective: Destroy the flesh abomination
Head down the stairs, and you will see this guy. Thing. Blob. Carter will rush in and attack him.
During the fight there will be a lot of adds in the form of familiars. Keep shooting the abomination, and let Carter worry about the familiars. Watch out for the abomination’s AoE. And remember to use the Charged ward generator when Carter gets excited.
Mission will complete upon the death of all things fleshy. Just remember that you so not need to run all the way back, there is a ladder placed on the opposite corner of where you entered.
