Tier 1

Objective: Take the anima manipulator from the desk

Interact with the W.A.N.D. next to Carter.

Objective: Inspect the wards by the office door

Simply step on the ward to ‘inspect’ it.

Objective: Lure familiars close to confirm the wards work

There are some familiars around the corner to the left as you exit the office. Provoke them with your presence and then quickly run inside the office again. They will die as they try to cross the ward.

Tier 2

Objective: Acquire anima charges from familiars

While on this mission, dead familiars will leave small, glowing orbs called anima charges. This objective require you to pick up 5, however the mission require 25 in total. On top of that a mission at a later point will also require these. You don’t need to go out of your way to kill familiars, but you should pick up the anima charges when you see them.

Objective: Assemble an anima shard using the anima manipulator

In your inventory you now have the W.A.N.D. and (at least) 5 anima charges. Open your crafting window (press Y), and add the charges to the main window and the W.A.N.D. to the ‘Tool’ slot.

The result is an anima shard.

Objective: Use an anima shard to restore the east gate wards

Objective: Lure familiars close to confirm the wards work

You get both these objectives at once, but you must do the first before the second. Head for the front gate.

Stand within the target area and the right click the anima shard. The result should be this:

Go find a familiar and provoke it (get close or attack) and run back across the ward. Remember to pick up the charge.

Objective: Use an anima shard to restore the west gate wards

Objective: Lure familiars close to confirm the wards work

Unless you have 5 charges (or a ready charge) you need more. I suggest running in the main entrance and out the north side entrance on your way to the west gate (see suggested route on map). You should encounter quite a few familiars on that route.

When at the west gate, and after having made more shards, stand within the target area and right click a shard to produce this effect:

Then go get some more familiars to test it.

Tier 3

Objective: Restore the drained wards by the northern academy entrance

Objective: Restore the drained wards by the southern academy entrance

Objective: Restore the drained wards by the eastern academy entrance

You need 3 more shards for this. Head for each of the entrances and set up the wards by right-clicking the shards in your inventory.

Tier 4

Objective: Activate the ward in the library

Head into the library in the centre of the academy. Interact with the ward to activate it.

Objective: Defend the library while the ward recharges

The ward will send a yellow beam towards each of the doorways in turn and order. While it does this, expect about 10-11 waves of two to five familiars in each. When the ward is done recharging the mission is complete.
